Unibet LogoUnless you have been walking around with your eyes closed recently, you will of seen how many gaming companies are sponsoring offline sports events / teams, especially within the UK. We have seen a couple of new partnerships taking place recently:

  • Unibet partner with UFC to become their official betting partner for UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Belgium, Netherlands, France and Australia
  • Betfair became the wi-fi and digital gaming partner at the Chester Race Company in the UK.
  • 32Red becomes the front of shirt sponsor for Scottish League One third-tier side Rangers FC

That being said, there have also been some interesting developments that look to greatly impact the results of some of the online gaming operators.

Firstly iGB reported that the FA is planning a ban on players / participants in any of the county’s top four divisions from betting on any match or competition in the world. This could come into effect as early as the next football season.

iGB also reported that there are going to be new advertising regulations around sponsorship of football clubs by Asian brands. Asian facing operators have spent a lot of money over the last few years sponsoring top premier league clubs in order to gain exposure within the Asian markets and communities, whilst the UK market has taken a backseat in their efforts.
